The industrial aggrotech band 'Combichrist' finally played their much awaited show at the Waterfront venue in Norwich and what a show it was!

Mimi Barks

The gig started with Mimi Barks, an intense trap metal artist from Berlin whose wrathful screaming vocals and confident demanour combined with blacked out eyes meant she had everyones attention throughout her performance and set the precedent for the rest of the evening.

Priest

The next support act was Priest, a mysterious masked band generated from previous members of the band Ghost. Priest's music has a wonderfully synthetic sound clearly heavily influenced by the eighties with elements of techno and futuristic sounds. I absolutely loved their sound and judging by the crowds response, they did too!

Combichrist

Finally, Combichrist came on and the tightly packed audience went mad. Combichrist immediately launched into their first song and the headbanging and dancing was immediate, their sound was wonderfully agressive and interspersed with throaty growls from lead singer Andy LaPlegua.

One drunken gig goer learnt the hard way about harrassing women when guitarist Eric 13 noticed a woman being grabbed from behind and asked if she was okay. The audience member continued to harrass the woman despite Eric 13 telling him to stop and in one swift movement Eric13 removed his guitar, placed it to one side onstage and launched himself over the stage barrier straight onto the audience member causing him to hit the floor.

Once removed from the floor, the dazed looking man was escorted out by the security and Eric 13 continued playing after again checking on the woman. The incident was over in the blink of an eye but it was lovely to know that the band members were keeping an eye on their supporters.

Andy LaPlegua made a quick statement about us "all being there to enjoy ourselves and feel the love for the music" and the cheers almost lifted the roof off the building! Throughout the show, the band members were all grinning and it was clear they were enjoying themselves.

By the end of the night, my feet (and knees) were hurting from dancing, my throat was sore from screaming and I really needed a shower but it was completely worth it.
