Last week I had the opportunity to chat with Edward Brookes, the frontman from Red Wine Talk, an independent rock band making waves throughout the UK.
Red Wine Talk has had a very successful start to the year. Just a few weeks ago they opened for the Scottish rock band The Fratellis at the UEA to an audience of over a thousand people which "was an absolute dream" and the day after, RWT traveled up to Manchester to visit Scruff of the Neck Records for photoshoots and a Livestream performance and interview on their Twitch channel.

Inspirations and career highlights
Edward is heavily inspired by Michael Hutchence, the lead singer of the eighties Australian band INXS, they"infuse into my inspiration for music", and even Edward's curly locks are a tribute to Michael Hutchence! In general, RWT is inspired by a multitude of styles including modern-day indie music, punk rock, and jazz music all of which can be heard in their music.
Edward's ultimate dream gig would have been to support Queen (because who wouldn't want to support Queen?) but secondly because Tony Michaels (the band manager) adores Queen so Edward knows how much it would mean to him. Sadly that act isn't possible but other dream acts would be bands such as; 1975, Sam Fender, and The Arctic Monkeys.
Future Plans
Red Wine Talk have plenty of exciting gigs coming up, they will be headlining at the Portland Arms in Cambridge on the 26th of May in collaboration with NMG (New Music Generator) Sessions and just two days later (28th of May) will be headlining again at a venue called The Loft in Southhampton in collaboration with Armistice Records.
RWT will also be filming a music video for their new single 'Anti Romance' and
in August they will be performing at the North Norfolk festival 'Wide Skies & Butterflies' alongside popular acts such as Hot Chip, The Vaccines, Scouting For Girls, and Natalie Imbruglia.
"We are mad excited for it," said Edward.

Special Mentions
Throughout our interview, Edward wanted to show his appreciation for everyone who has helped with the journey so far "with our incredible team behind us, I believe we can do great things" and frequently gave credit to those around him. He specifically asked me to mention Tony Michaels the band manager, Harold Manning for supporting the band during live performances, Alistair Nicholls for stepping up when needed, and finally Angie Robb who helped fund a video of highlights from RWT's sell-out show at Epic Studios (filmed and directed by Milk Studios).
Thank you to Edward for talking to me!
